Enviamos a lenda da Padeira de Aljubarrota!
Brites de Almeida was an ugly, strong woman, with a man style. She was born in Faro(south of Portugal) and his family was very poor and humble. It was created almost alone, was orphaned at twenty years and did nothing else but walking tucked into fights and learned to wield the sword and the stick. Everyone was afraid of her. There was a soldier who was delighted with the bravery of her and decided to propose marriage to him. Her only condition was that she proposed fight before marriage to see if he was strong. Only she won and he was mortally wounded. It began to be persecuted for justice and fled to Castile (Spain).
Past few years she returned to Portugal.
On August 14, 1385 (Battle of ajubarrota – between Portugal and Spain), when she heard the cries of war could not contain herself and grabs what she had and will help the Portuguese to fight the Castilians. In the end, satisfied with victory, returns home to rest, but when she entered in house she realized that there were strangers in their own home!!!
And saw seven Castilians hide., she had no half measures and grabs the shovel with which he struck it into bread, and boiled it in the oven and kills seven Castilians. For this reason this woman in the region of Aljubarrota became known as a great and brave and "The Brave baker of Aljubarrota".
What is today the 14th August, which is a holiday in this region, it is remembered and a shovel there that claim to be true, that no procession, which is religious, usually celebrate the day the baker of Aljubarrota.
